The Conductors Club of New York is an
association of male chorus conductors and singers founded in
1934.
Membership in the Conductors Club is
not limited to conductors of male choral groups but includes
singers, accompanists, and others involved with male choral
singing.
If you are not a member and would like to attend
a
meeting, please contact us.
Members of the Conductors Club come from
male choral groups that perform in New York State. These
choruses include the Bayside Glee Club, Catskill Glee Club,Down
Town Glee Club, Hendrick Hudson Male Chorus,
Mendelssohn Club of Albany, Mendelssohn Club of Kingston,
Mendelssohn Glee Club of New York City, and University Glee Club.
The public is cordially invited to
attend all performances offered by member groups of the
Conductors Club.
Each member club gives at least two
performances a year, and the cost of admission is often
nominal or by donation. Major performances are listed at the
Conductors Club concert calendar. In addition member clubs give free
performances throughout the year in venues from college campuses to senior care facilities
and also sing at community and public
events.
The clubs occasionally present joint
performances and massed concerts. In 2009 the Mendelssohn
Club of Albany and the Mendelssohn Glee Club of New York
City presented a concert at Union College, in Schenectady,
in commemoration of Felix Mendelssohn's 200th
birthday.
